Title:Commercial Vehicle Seat Evaluation - Truck and Bus
Issuing Committee:Truck And Bus Human Factors Committee
Scope: Since the early 1990驴s, studies have been done relating human comfort to the dynamics measured at the vehicle seat but currently there are no test methods or measurements of driver interface conditions at the vehicle seat. The recommended practice describes an objective test method that can be used for measuring driver interface conditions at the vehicle seat while driving a commercial vehicle. By using a pressure measurement system with a pressure sensor pad between the driver and seat cushion, driver interface pressure distribution, contact area and pressure change rate can be measured. When using these measurements with this test procedure, a new metric called Area Pressure Change Rate (aPcrms) or Driver Discomfort Index can be calculated and used for comparing vehicle seats in a dynamic environment.
